Blue-eyed Grass (Sisyrinchium bellum)

Despite its name, Blue-eyed Grass is not a true grass but a charming member of the iris family. Native to California, it features slender, grass-like leaves and delicate purple-blue flowers with a striking yellow center. Blooming from late winter through spring, it thrives in meadows, open woodlands, and grassy slopes. This Sisyrinchium bellum was observed in Mission Trails Regional Park, San Diego—gracing the landscape with its subtle beauty and early seasonal color.
