Old Point Loma Lighthouse

Perched atop the windswept cliffs of Point Loma, the Old Point Loma Lighthouse has stood as a sentinel over San Diego Bay since 1855. Built in the Cape Cod style, this whitewashed structure with its central lantern tower was among the first eight lighthouses on the Pacific Coast. At 422 feet above sea level, its elevated position often left it shrouded in fog, leading to its deactivation in 1891. Today, it remains a cherished landmark within Cabrillo National Monument, offering visitors a glimpse into 19th-century maritime life and panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
