Blue Sky Ecological Reserve is a peaceful canyon nestled in the foothills of Poway, offering shaded trails beneath coast live oaks and a rich tapestry of native plants. It's one of my favorite places to photograph in San Diego County, especially during spring when the reserve bursts into color with a variety of wildflowers.
In this collection, I’ve captured moments like the striking silhouette of yucca plants against the sky and the delicate beauty of Chinese houses (*Collinsia heterophylla*)—a rare wildflower I’ve only encountered here locally. The reserve's diverse habitats, from chaparral-covered hills to riparian woodlands, provide endless inspiration for exploring light, texture, and seasonal change.
Through soft focus and natural light, I aim to reflect the quiet magic of this protected space. Each image invites a closer look at the subtle beauty that thrives in this corner of San Diego. To learn more about the reserve and its trails, visit the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve website.
